Major League Baseball has seen some great players over the years. There are many runners to enter the Hall of Fame to join in with the best players to ever walk onto the baseball field.  Some players will forever be associated with baseball.

5. Hank Aaron

Aaron has a total of 755 hits. He had a batting average of .305 and out of all the players to hit over 500 balls he has the lowest strikeout percentage at 9.9.

He has a single-season home run total of 47 and every year between 1955 and 1973 he hit at least 24 home runs each reason. He was the 1957 National League MVP and was nominated for this award six times. 

Interesting is that Hank Aaron received two lifetime achievement awards and is still one of the best hitters to ever play the game.

4. Ted Williams

Williams is ranked right behind Babe Ruth when it comes to hitting the ball.  He has a batting average of .344 and has the best on-base percentage of .482. The Red Sox gave credit to Williams by being disciplined and having a walk rate of 20.6.

He took three years off of playing the game to serve in the military. He was in the Korean War and missed most of the 1952 and 1953 seasons due to his service. If he would have not served he would have passed 3,000 hits and over  600 home runs.

This successful player was a six-time batting champion and he received the Triple Crown two times. He even went out on a high note when he retired from the game in 1960 at the age of 40.

3. Barry Bonds

Bonds set a new record with 73 home runs in 2001 beating out Hank Aaron. He had an even more impressive season in 2002.

In that year’s Bonds was walked 198 times and 68 of these were intentional. In 2004, he had 232walks and 120 of them were intentional.

He was a member of the 500 hit home run club and stole over 500 bases. He has seven MVP awards and eight Gold Gloves. If it was not for the PED he would have an even higher rank on this list.

2. Willie Mays

Mays is a well-rounded player and he displayed power, control. And was one of the best center fielders ever to play baseball.

This well-known player has 660 runs and a batting average of .302. He is also known as a top outfielder. Mays left the game to serve in the military in 1953. He performed well until 1967 and he was over the age of 40 at this time. He played in a total of 2,992 games.

1. Babe Ruth

 No one else but Ruth would be in this top spot. He hit 29 home runs in 1919 and hit 54 the next year. At this time no player hit more than 20 in a season.     

Ruth set records from 1918 to 1931. He hit 602 balls at this time and no one else even came close.

 Ruth played 1,221.1 innings and set all types of records. He is still considered to be the best player to ever play in the game of baseball.
